We can’t give credit to someone for today’s design of the modular kitchen. It was continuous process for the betterment of house and lifestyle. Initially kitchen was the isolated part of house where either women of the house or servants were working. This was only cooking place. Later with water supply and gas stove their working changed. Now cleaning of utensils became part of kitchen. A stepstone was the kitchen designed in Frankfurt by Margarethe Schütte-Lihotzky. The idea of standardized was first introduced locally with the Frankfurt kitchen, but later defined new in the “Swedish kitchen”. Industrialization helped modular kitchen alot. Different types of kitchen materials, hardwares. accessories, appliances came into existance. Computer also propelled it. Now people can see their kitchen before manufacturing and installation. Economic condition made it flourish in Indian market.
